We have decided to go back to the Dream Center and continue to partner with their efforts in the ongoing attempt to better their city. Even though we are going back for a third year, we have BIG things that we are excited about. We'll continue partnerships, and create new ones. We will get to see God in action as we take part in loving people, comforting the lonely, fighting poverty and injustice, and loving the marginalized. If this is your first time going to Los Angeles with us, you are in for a treat. Los Angeles is the second largest cities in the United States, which naturally has many things to offer.
On this trip, we'll learn so much. We'll receive training and real world mission experience. Each day will be hard. We'll have to fight for each other as the enemy creates roadblocks in our mission. Each day we will serve others. Each day we will take part in leadership training and Bible study. Each day we will worship together and put what we are learning into action. We’ll be forced to problem solve, think critically, work as a team, and get outside of our comfort zones. We’ll discover the importance of supporting mission work and maybe some of us will find a spark of inspiration to get involved in ministry back at New Life or pursue mission work later in life. Whether you've been to Los Angeles before, or this is your first time, a trip like this will change your life.
We’ll be partnering with the Dream Center in northern Los Angeles. It was founded in 1994 and is a volunteer-driven organization that finds and fills the needs of over 80,000 individuals and families each month. They provide services like mobile hunger relief, medical programs, shelter for victims of human trafficking and foster care. The people that work with Dream center have a passion for urban missions. During our time in Los Angeles we will gain insight and skills that we can take back to Tucson.
We’d LOVE to have you join our team. We WANT you on our team. We NEED you on our team. This won't work without you. You bring something special to the table. Your experience, you're work ethic, your passions, skills, and soul. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it. Look over the application. Pray over the application. Is God having you go on this trip? Talk to your parents/guardians. We will be required to actively raise funds for this trip. We will have long days of hard work in an unfamiliar environment. Each of us will contribute, lead, and be actively involved in a wide range of ministry activities. We will be forced to see the reality of poverty, injustice, and life in the city of Los Angeles. Our maturity will be tested. Our hearts will be broken everyday due to how large and hopeless the job seems, but everyday, we'll be able to see God working ways that we could never expect. But it will be worth it. We’ll get to see God at work in the most unexpected places. We will draw closer to Him and to each other. We will leave the experience forever changed.
