It's been a while! I'm so glad we got to squeeze in a trip to the orphanage in early March, right as COVID-19 was just starting to get serious. Below are some video highlights of that trip. Lots of smiles and fun with the kids. You will be blessed to see them.
Our next scheduled trip to the orphanage would have been for Saturday, May 2nd. But, that is cancelled until all this stuff blows over. Hopefully we will be able to go in July.
Until then, know that I have been in communication with David and Elyy throughout the last couple months. They are all doing well, in good spirits, and staying healthy. We were able to wire a couple months of New Life monthly support / trip expense money down to them a few weeks ago so they could have resources to stay afloat.
As always... it seems... there are new challenges and hardships. The Mexican government has really increased their oversight and intrusion into the orphanages down there lately. David and Elyy are being required to jump through more hoops, paperwork, and government requirements. It's taxing financially, emotionally, and it's consuming a lot of their time and energy. One sad result was having to send a severely disabled, wheel-chair bound girl away to live with her grandma because the orphanage (under the new requirements) doesn't have the required accommodations for her, like ramps and a therapeutic bed.
Also, can you imagine stay-at-home orders with 40+ kids? There's also a 6pm lockdown that occurs every evening in the town of Imuris. It's starting to get hot down there... without AC or cooling. And, to add more drama, there's been more mafia/cartel fighting in and around their town.
So, please pray for David and Elyy. Pray for the kids. Pray for provision, protection, and God's favor as they try to navigate these difficult times.
Thank you for partnering with New Life to encourage and support the orphanage in Imuris.
Blessings to all!
