On July 13th, a group of us from New Life visited the orphanage in Imuris Mexico. It was a glorious day of serving and connecting with both the house parents (David and Elyy) and the children at the orphanage. We delivered two new washing machines, donated clothing, and a bunch of cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products (purchased with money raised through VBS).
In the morning, our New Life team worked with all 47 orphanage children to fill out fun, colorful "All About Me" sheets and to photograph each child to help New Life get to know the children individually. We provided a hot dog, chips, and lemonade lunch for the whole orphanage. As we sat down to eat, all the kids broke into a song of thanksgiving before praying for lunch. It was so sweet! Being a hot and humid July day, another "sweet" blessing was handing out and savoring the frozen fruit bars we brought down. That put smiles on all of our faces! In the afternoon, we hung out, played, and connected with the kids until it was time to make a run for the border and get home by dark.
If you are interested in learning more about New Life's work with the orphanage in Imuris or if you are interested in going down on a future trip, fill out the Imuris Information Form through this link HERE. I will follow up with you once I receive your form. Our next trips are September 7th, then November 2nd.
Did you know that New Life is partnering in global missions with Mission Voice Network in India and Casa Hogar Sinai Orphanage in Imuris, Mexico? God is moving in mighty way through these two partner organizations and we are excited to be part of the wave of grace! Check out what Pastor Greg and Jay Bertelsen are saying about each area of service.
Hello New Life!
With great joy we are partnering with a network of pastors in India to see that stronghold won for Christ. Our next missions’ trip to India is January 20-30, 2020. This trip will revolve around open-air gospel meetings, child development centers, and visiting pastors. Team members will be prepared to present 5-20 minute gospel messages (to adults and children), pray over people (deliverance, healing, blessings), and speak blessings over people. Our overall purpose in this partnership is to help the Indian pastors to reach India. If you are interested in going, please see the India Mission Trip Information and fill out the Missions Trip Application below.

Hello New Life,
We have the blessing of partnering with Casa Hogar Sinai, an orphanage in Imuris, Mexico that is located 50 miles south of Nogales, Sonora. Several years ago, a sweet Christian couple named David and Elyy began to take abandoned children into their home. Today, they have the huge task of caring for 40 children ranging in age from five to eighteen, including some special-needs children. New Life has the opportunity to visit the orphanage for a Saturday every other month. Day trips include doing work projects, taking down supplies, providing lunch for the whole orphanage, playing and connecting with the children, and more. This is a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Jesus to these kids through our smiles, hugs, talents, and financial resources. Join us as we continue to give love, support, and encouragement to Casa Hogar Sinai.

(If you are interested in heading down to Imuris, we will visit and serve the orphanage on the first Saturday, every other month, starting in July. So, mark your calendars – July 13, Sept 7, Nov 2, and Jan 4 are our next visits. We typically leave at 7:00 a.m. and get back around 7:00 p.m.. We need electricians, tile setters, handy people, and those who love kids. Speaking Spanish is a bonus! Fill out the form below or email Jay at firstname.lastname@example.org)
Dear New Life,
I am more excited about global outreach today than ever. There is an urgent need, God is doing great things, and He has blessed New Life with gifts and opportunities.
Here are two global partnerships and ways to get involved you will be hearing more about:
1. India: Based on the amazing ministry we had with Mission Voice Network (MVN) in India last January, the Executive Leadership Team and Elders unanimously believe God is calling us to commit to India long term. It is one of the least reached, most gospel resistant places on earth. Yet God is sowing seeds of revival and New Life was invited to support the front lines. This means several things:
2. Imuris Mexico: Two and a half hours south of us (110 Miles) is the Casa Hogar Sinai orphanage in Imuris, Mexico. New Life has been visiting them for the past few months and has formed a relationship with David and Elyy, the directors. The integrity of their ministry, the hope given to orphans, its proximity to Tucson, and the tangible “yes” of God led our ELT and Elders to likewise make a longer-term commitment to partner with them. This means several things:
3. Global Outreach Team: Currently we have openings for a Prayer Leader, Team Administrator, Missionary Communications person, and Imuris and India Team Assistants. If God nudges you to be involved in any of these ways, please contact Pastor Greg at GregL@NewLifeTucson.com.
It is exciting to share the gospel with a neighbor. However, looking across borders to the rest of the world can be a little intimidating. I am jazzed at these two partnerships and believe God has great things in store for our efforts to share the gospel to the ends of the earth. India, a desperately needy country, a world stronghold against Christianity, has seeds of revival growing and we can partner on the front lines. And Imuris, Mexico is less than a three-hour drive away, and yet is a whole different world. In this underdeveloped country we have the chance to give hope to orphans. What incredible opportunities. Come on, get involved!
Our India Mission Team is doing all we can to get prepared for, and raise funds to go towards the January trip. We are leaning hard into God as we pray for direction in each teaching session, write our lessons and continue to grow/solidify lifelong friendships with each other. Pastor Greg wrote the following shortly after our team retreat:
"In January, this fun but inadequate Team from New Life is going to lead a Bible Training Conference for 900 pastors and their wives in India. It is an unbelievable opportunity in which we are wholly dependent on Him to do what only He can do. On our part, we find it absurd that God would use us."
We would love for you to partner with us in prayer as we work out all of the final details and continually seek God's guidance each step of this trip - before, during and after our time in country. We will be hosting a Chili Cook-Off and Dessert Auction on November 9th to assist us in raising our funds (click HERE to purchase tickets if you are in Tucson and can join us). If you are not local but would still like to support any of us - please see the button below (select "India Missions" on the drop down menu and leave a name in the 'memo' section. Or you can put "group support" in the memo.).
It is God's beautiful providence that has put this silly, humble and perfectly-imperfect team together, and we look forward to Him taking us FAR outside our comfort boxes and deep into the ocean of humility and service. May we serve well and pour grace out from the unbelievable abundance He pours over us.
The India Mission Team is excited to host our Chili Cook-Off & Live Dessert Auction to help raise funds for the upcoming missions trip in January. Join us on Friday, November 9th for a great evening of good food and lots of laughter while we take this next step in "transforming the world through the gospel".
Look forward to:
Chili Tasting & Judging (dinner for all!)
A Live Dessert Auction (with an auctioneer!)
A Silent Auction for some fantastic items and services
LOTS OF LAUGHTER!!!!
We hope you will join us and we look forward to seeing you there. Tickets are $5 per person, or $20 per family of 4 or more. They can be purchased in the courtyard between services beginning Sunday, October 21st, in the church office during office hours or through the button below! Let's partner together and spread the love of Christ!
Our mission at New Life is to cultivate a community that enjoys God and transforms the world through the gospel. I have some exciting news to share about what God is doing in the global part of that mission! He is opening a door for us to train 900 pastors and their wives in the heart of one of the least reached and most populated strongholds in the world: India. The opportunity is outrageous!
India is a predominantly Hindu nation (80%) with 15% of its population Muslim. It has proven to be highly resistant to the gospel. Even the small percentage of Christians in the country (2.6% in 1970) have steadily decreased over the past 50 years (2.1% in 2018).
Some of you may remember when Pastor Vijayan (we called him Pastor Vee) preached here at New Life in 2012. A native of India, he was organizing support for 75 Indian pastors. His goal was to support each for 5 years, until their churches could become self-sustaining.
Six years later, he supports a network of 900 pastors throughout southern India, and he has asked us to provide a training conference for the pastors and for their wives between January 18-31, 2019. What an opportunity to “transform the world through the gospel”!
Since our partnership in Senegal reached its goals we have been prayerfully considering where God will call us to partner with next. We have prayed for the most strategic place to have the most impact for His Kingdom. Keeping our same vision to partner with indigenous Christians to reach their own people we have heard God directing us to either India or Haiti. So, we are saying yes to Pastor Vee’s invitation. We are assembling a team to lead a conference in India and we will decide on a long-term partnership after we return.
We need teaching team members to go to India. If you’re interested, please follow the link below. We will take up to 4 female teachers and 4 male teachers, each willing to teach segments of 6-hour sessions to groups of 150 pastors or pastor’s wives. In the evenings, team members will lead open air evangelistic meetings in villages, distribute rice bags to those in need, and have a prayer ministry to pastors and villagers.
All this is so exciting. 900 Pastors … that’s an army! The potential impact of this can genuinely transform the world.
Please be praying for these pastors and for the training conference. Pray for our team and for the upcoming fundraising efforts to make this happen.
