Our Church's Response To COVID-19
Dear New Life family,
What a week! We hope you are doing well in the midst of these unprecedented times. If you weren’t able to be with us on Sunday, we think you will be encouraged by watching our service.
The United States continues to respond proactively to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At this time we are following Governor Ducey’s lead. He has closed public schools in Arizona through the end of March. This in line with President Trump’s urge for Americans not to gather publicly through the end of March.
In light of this, all New Life on-campus events, including Sunday morning services, will be moved online (https://newlifetucson.live/) through March 29. That means services for March 22 and 29 will be moved online. In addition to the large gathering via video, we will also have videos available for children and students.
These decisions have been made in concert with our elders. We did not make these decisions lightly, and we will continue to weigh what wisdom looks like. We understand that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to not gather extends into May, and so our move to online-only gatherings may need to be extended.
In the midst of the threat of COVID-19, we believe that the church is called to mobilize, not shrink. On Sunday we called the church to step up and offer help to those who ought to be sheltered at this time. We were delighted at the flood of responses. If you are able to help, please sign up here. If you are homebound (or if you have a neighbor or friend who is homebound) please sign up here. We would love to help.
In addition, we are launching several other ways to be the church in this new season:
Thank you so much for your continued prayers. We need wisdom and we are prayerful that God would unite New Life through this season. The enemy would love nothing more than to have Christians disengage from community, divide over non-essentials, and cower from speaking the hope of the gospel in a time of need.
We believe that God will use this season to engage community in a new way, unite over the big cause we have, and trumpet the saving grace of Jesus Christ to a world that so desperately needs it.
Please continue to demonstrate faithful support of God’s work. We are so grateful to minister alongside you. Would you please pray for us and generously give online. We expect our offerings to go down through this season while at the same time benevolence and helping people in need will go up. So, if you are able to give above and beyond your normal tithe, it will make a significant kingdom impact at this time of need.
As the children’s song says, “Our God is so BIG, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing my God cannot do!” We still believe that.
If you have a child or a student, you will receive an additional email in the next two days with further information.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and ask. Thank you again for your prayers for us and for New Life. We’re grateful for you.
Trusting Christ with you,
The Executive Leadership Team
Greg, John, Zach, and Kim
